Our story
Meet Andi and Nicky. Originally hailing from the UK, they both settled in BC, Canada and became friends through a shared love of the outdoors.
Andi’s an avid outdoor swimmer who lives by the motto: "You never regret a swim!" Whether it's longer swims in the summer sun or brisk winter dips in icy lakes, you'll probably find her splashing around the beautiful waters of Deep Cove. She has spent more than her fair share of winter days rushing home to change after a swim or changing under a towel at the beach – no easy feat when your fingers are frozen and it’s minus 2 outside – so she’s excited to offer a uniquely Canadian take on the waterproof change robe.
Andi moved to BC for its breathtaking natural beauty and to raise her children with the unique freedom and confidence that Canada offers. Now, she's a proud mom to two adventurous teenagers. When she's not in the water, she's exploring new trails with her two springer spaniels, or enjoying s’mores by a campfire. She loves spending time outdoors in comfort and style – and that’s what Salt Outdoors is all about.
Nicky moved to Canada in 2004 and has worked in a variety of retail planning / buying positions over the last 25 years. Attracted to the outstanding beauty of Vancouver, with its combination of mountains, lakes and beaches and associated activities these offer, she has never never look back. Nicky and her family now live in the stunning glacial fjord of Indian Arm, North Vancouver in a property accessible only by boat. Her daily commute on the water offers the chance to be immersed in nature, with orcas, harbour seals, river otters and eagles as her neighbours.
Nicky is an avid traveller, who also enjoys spending time with her family and having outdoor adventures. From trekking the Himalayas, visiting remote jungles in Costa Rica, to kayaking down rivers in Laos, she believes in getting out and experiencing the vast beauty of the outside world, no matter your age.
Her daily activities involve being out in boats, dog walking in the wet north shore mountains, or standing watching her teenagers play sports in winter from the sidelines. Suffering from Reynaud's, she has always been keen to find high quality, often niche products to help stay warm and dry. Teaming up with Andi, using her own years of experience in retail, along with their combined love of the outdoors, has allowed them to create a brand that can work for all outdoor enthusiasts.
