Ready to elevate your summer?

Forget the crowded beaches and dive into BC's hidden treasures, all within easy reach of Vancouver! These hike-in swimming spots offer the perfect blend of adventure and refreshment. Get ready to lace up your boots, pack your Salt Outdoors gear, and discover some of the most breathtaking swim spots nature has to offer.

  1. Joffre Lakes, Pemberton. Imagine plunging into turquoise waters so vivid they seem unreal. The challenging 10km hike to the upper lake is worth every step when you're floating beneath towering glaciers. Note the closure from August 22 to October 23, which is a Reconnection Period for Indigenous cultural and spiritual practices.

  2. Garibaldi Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park. Crave that postcard-perfect swim? This 18km intermediate hike leads to Garibaldi's sapphire waters, framed by snow-capped peaks, delivering an experience that will leave you speechless.

  3. Watersprite Lake, Squamish. This 16km challenging out-and-back trail rewards hikers with a stunning alpine lake. The recently built trail means that it's still relatively unknown.

  4. Elfin Lakes, Garibaldi Provincial Park. A 22km out-and-back trek through alpine meadows reveals two stunning lakes. The upper lake is perfect for swimming, while the lower lake is reserved for drinking water.

  5. Cheakamus Lake, Whistler. A beautiful 16km out-and-back forest trail leads to crystal clear waters surrounded by ancient cedars. Continue further to find more secluded beaches with mountain views.

Day-use passes are required for Joffre, Garibaldi, Elfin and Cheakamus Lakes. https://bcparks.ca/reservations/day-use-passes/

Don't let another summer slip by without experiencing these incredible spots. Pack your gear for quick, comfortable changes, bring plenty of water and snacks, and always check trail conditions before you go. Remember, the best memories are made when you step off the beaten path. So what are you waiting for? Your next great adventure is calling!
